The writer development wing of New Leaf Network Press is largely made up of the New Leaf Writers Circle. Since 2021, an informal group of writers, primarily women, have been gathering on Zoom to encourage and support Canadian writers on the topic of church and theology. In a world that provides so many reasons to keep our opinions to ourselves, the Canadian church can use more homegrown theology. Our bookshelves in Canada have been populated by American ideas that require translation to the Canadian context. Could we support the ideas that quietly grow in Canada to be released to the country through blogs, books, academic writing, poetry and sermons?

Who is New Leaf Network Press?

New Leaf Network Press is a small-scale imprint committed to offering the work of Canadian authors to a Canadian audience on the topic of Christian faith. We are part of the New Leaf Network, and all of our publications seek to support the work of the network.

Writing and other content creation have been part of the network from the beginning. As we seek to support the Canadian Church we have found that others share a feeling of loneliness and finding others on a similar journey is so important. Many of us have found encouraging voices in books that we have read. Yet, there is a gap where distinctly Canadian stories and resources written for the Canadian church should be. That’s where New Leaf Network Press comes in.

New Leaf Network Press fosters Canadian voices through book publishing and also through our online articles in the Writers Collective and seasonal readers at Advent and Lent.

The New Leaf Network is a collaborative, relational and creative missional organization that supports, equips and connects church leaders, spiritual entrepreneurs and missional practitioners in post-Christian Canada. Through online collaboration spaces, interactive learning workshops, events, and story-telling, this growing collective of Canadian, Jesus-centred leaders is a community of innovators, both church and lay leaders, working to lead from the emerging future.

We’ve got a hunch that our ever-increasing post-Christian culture is begging for new forms of Jesus-centered cultural engagement, neighbourhood connection and mission innovation. We believe it’s time for Canadian Jesus-followers to unite and equip each other, cultivate our voice and start something new from coast to coast.
